Classical Flute Lessons with emphasis on tone quality and color through correct embouchure position and Marcel Moyse phrasing.  Weekly lessons and summer classes with master Marcel Moyse and classes also with his long-time student, Eleanor Lawrence, learning Moyse's 24 and 32 Melodies, as well as hand-written exercises by Marcel Moyse, himself, fine-tuned Candace's development of a beautiful rich, multi-colored and vibrant sound.  In one lesson Marcel Moyse smiled and said to her, "You make the sun shine and the flowers bloom!"  Nothing in the world could have thrilled her more than this compliment!  Candace will help you find the core of your sound so that your flute playing will blossom into vibrant, shimmering colors!

New Age Improvisation for flute with emphasis on working with modal melodies, archetypal intervals and the Bronze Age Scale.  The reviews for Candace's CD released ten years ago, "As Above So Below", keep coming in! People say that they listen regularly to this CD that she and pianist, Gordon Porth, composed based on the Greek modes and the Archetypal Intervals.  It has been therapeutic for many and people say there is always something new to be heard in this remarkable recording even after 10 years of listening!  Candace and Gordon have just finished recording their next CD, "Traveling Waves" which will be out in late Fall 2012.  Once again they journey on the shifting centers of the modal harmonies and scales, so refreshing to the ear and heart and spirit!  Candace can help you understand the mind, body, spirit qualities of these archetypal intervals and scales for your own creative improvisations!

FOF Sizzlin' Summer Recorder Camp - June 2012

This week-long recorder camp, is designed for rising 2nd and 3rd grade students to start learning an instrument NOW!  Students will learn to play and read music in one week of morning classes.  They will demonstrate for their parents in a short performance at the end of the week.

Reading musical notation while performing on an instrument is a cross-brain activity which builds brain connections and strengthens neural pathways!

Recorder is the ideal first instrument for young children because it is easy to blow and finger.

In the camp students will actively engage in music making, develop an understanding of musical concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, learn to read music notation, experience success and enjoyment from cooperative music making.

This class is a great jumping-off point to launch students into the orchestra and band programs!

One week to last a lifetime!
